Our Story

Ruam Mit’s O-Kart jewelry project currently has 28 participants that include both adolescent boys and girls along with young mothers from remote villages.  The project not only provides income, but also instills valuable life skills training giving them a sense of self-value and confidence about their future. In doing so, this project will significantly decrease human trafficking in this area of northern Thailand by developing sustainable livelihood.


Joe, 17, and Asak, 18, are in charge of design, production, logistics and quality control.  Art crafting is part of their heritage, which they are committed to preserving.  They have been separated from their families as refugees so rebuilding and preserving these traditions keeps part of their home village in their hearts.  They want “to help create o-kart (opportunity) for others,” the same way others have helped them.  They refuse to remain victims; they are taking charge of their lives and future.
